Construct

Construct was a designed space inside the historic May Co. building where kids could build, play, and learn about architecture. The outside of the building was wrapped in large vinyl lettering and patterns. The inside of the gallery was wrapped in images of iconic Los Angeles architecture and “construction tape” that was colorfully printed with patterns and action words. The title wall featured 4’ tall, three-dimensional letters, cut from sheets of flourescent orange plexiglass. The gallery space was used by kids, parents, and LACMA educators for art activities and classes, it contained a small Renzo Piano exhibition of architectural drawings and models, and was open in conjunction with the construction of the Broad Contemporary Art Museum.
